O2-Matic FAQ
A cartridge in Portia is meant for a one time use and oxygen can’t be stored once the cartridge is triggered . The normal shelf life of a cartridge is 12 months from the date of manufacture if it isn’t used.
O2-Matic’s products deliver 99.7 per cent pure medical grade oxygen.
Under the technology developed by O2-matic Oxygen is generated through non inflammable chemical reaction at less than 1 Bar. There is absolutely no fire hazard with the product
In case of Kyra, oxygen is compressed using standard medical grade compressors. These medical grade compressors are oil free and hence there is no possibility of the oxygen being contaminated. The Oxygen is stored in stainless steel tanks at a working pressure of 10 Bar (Cycle tyre Pressure) as compared to 150 Bars in Oxygen Cylinders. The pressure does not contribute to a fire hazard at any time. The ignition point of stainless steel is 1400 degrees Celsius and in KYRA the oxygen will be stored at room temperature.
All components used in the Electricals and Tubing are UL-95 certified and hence medical grade. Silicon tubes are used which are flame and fire retardant.
O2-Matic’s cartridges can be utilised at any time within 12 months from the date of manufacture
The devices (Portia / Cronus) would require FAA certification for carriage and usage on aircraft. Company would apply for the necessary certifications after the product is commercialised.
O2-Matic even though is competing with Cylinders and Concentrators as an Oxygen supply device but the intention is to tap the large un-serviced or underserved markets that is not being met through Cylinders and Concentrators. The user segment for O2-Matic is envisaged to be different.
